Sickle Cell Disease is a hereditary disease that can be passed on from either parent to children. Upon early diagnosis through screening, patients can undergo medical management to reduce the risks of complications and if possible through proper medical procedure it can be treated. Sicklecare Project under Melian Foundation has launched an Awareness and Screening project throughout Tanzania to help people understand the disease and take health initiatives to prevent the disease. Through counselling, spouses and partners will be able to understand their health situation and make informed decision including preparing for healthcare if the children or the parents themselves are affected.
